White-label loyalty platform Propello Cloud has helped turn JD’s single-brand cashback app into an everyday earning programme.
MANCHESTER, UK, October 2026 — JD has expanded its Status rewards programme so members can earn JD Cash when they shop with partner brands, not only at JD.
Delivered with the loyalty platform Propello Cloud, the expansion brings brands including Nando’s, Morrisons, Uber, Sony, Jet2holidays and Popeyes into the Status app, so members earn on everyday spending and redeem the balance against trainers, kit and clothing at JD. It moves Status from a programme members use when they shop at JD to one they also use on the days in between.
Status launched in October 2023 as a straightforward proposition: shop at JD, earn JD Cash, spend it at JD. It reached its first million members within eight months and is now live in the UK, with rollout underway across the Republic of Ireland and France. JD also made JD Cash spendable online, as well as in store, giving members more places to spend what they earn.
The new phase changes what the app is for. Members browse offers from partner brands inside Status, shop with those partners, and the cashback lands in the same JD Cash wallet they already use at the till. One currency, one wallet, and considerably more ways to fill it.
The Status app is now the home for members to earn the cash for their next JD purchase as they spend on everyday essentials. Relevant partner offers in-app keep members engaged between purchases, and spending tops up their balance to redeem on trainers, kit and clothing at JD.
For JD, wider earning feeds back into the business. As JD Cash builds up, members open the app and redeem. More redemption, more visits.
With Propello Cloud’s fully managed service, JD could add a new earning mechanic without building affiliate infrastructure or brokering merchant relationships in-house. Propello Cloud sourced and negotiated the partner brands, supplied the technology and runs the network on JD’s behalf, so the capability arrived as a single package: ready to use rather than ready to build.
The platform is fully white-labelled, so JD Status remains the brand members see at every step, from the offers they browse to the wallet at the till. It let JD add this capability and expand across brands and markets without pulling internal teams off other work.
Sam Hopkinson, Head of Loyalty, JD:
“Our members already tell us what they want from Status, and there are now more ways to get value from it. Letting them earn on everyday spend means Status works for them across the week, not only on the days they shop with us. The brands we’ve brought on are a natural fit for our members – the places they already shop. “
Mark Camp, CEO, Propello Cloud:
“Most loyalty programmes ask members to wait. Earn slowly, redeem eventually, forget in between. JD wanted the opposite. Now a Friday night takeaway becomes JD Cash at the till the following Friday. That is not a bigger programme. It is a closer one, and this is only the first phase.”
The expansion reaches members through a full multichannel launch: point-of-sale across more than 400 JD stores, direct CRM, and paid social fronted by prominent influencers, alongside a hero brand collaboration with Popeyes, the Louisiana-inspired chicken brand popular with JD’s audience. Both companies will widen the partner network across all three markets, with further phases planned through the year.
